Grouper eye

Grouper eye

Why would a top line predator like a Grouper routinely let divers shoot their eye from just a few inches away? In the Caymans, I am convinced that they have no fear from decades of protection, and actually invite you to hunt with them. They commonly follow you and will point at a Squirrelfish or other prey wedged under a coral head. I have seen Grouper cooperate with big Moray Eels in hunting, and I am convinced that they understand a diver could work with them to catch hiding fish.
